Kiel Week: Learning, Progress, and a Strong Finish

Kiel Week gave us a little bit of everything: waiting, challenging racing, frustrating moments, and—finally—a breakthrough.

The regatta began with no racing because there wasn’t enough wind. Once we got on the water, the conditions remained light and tricky. We saw some encouraging signs early, including competitive speed, improving starts, strong mark roundings, and gains downwind.

The middle of the regatta was more difficult. We struggled to find a consistent rhythm, and the boat didn’t always feel as settled as we wanted. Still, we stayed calm, communicated well, and kept working through each challenge together.

On the final day, things started to click. We felt more confident in the boat and could focus more on racing the fleet. Even when we made mistakes, we stayed composed and fought our way back, gaining several places late in the races.

Our biggest takeaway from Kiel is that progress is rarely a straight line. Every day gave us something valuable, and we finished the week with more confidence, better communication, and a stronger foundation for what comes next.
