From 2022–2024, Sarah Newberry Moore and David Liebenberg were the top-ranked American athletes competing in the high-speed, foiling Nacra 17. In 2024, they represented Team USA at the Paris Olympic Games, racing against the world’s best in one of the most physically and technically demanding events in sailing.
Sarah and David first teamed up in 2018, working their way steadily toward the top of the class. After narrowly missing Olympic selection in 2020—while delivering career-best performances—the team committed fully to the 2024 quadrennium, culminating in Olympic representation and years of hard-earned experience at the highest level of the sport.
Building on that foundation, Sarah has launched the next chapter of USA 50 Racing with a new Nacra 17 partnership alongside Hoel Menard, an emerging American foiling talent with a strong international and Olympic-development background. The program now blends proven Olympic experience with the momentum of a new generation, setting its sights on continued world-class performance toward LA 2028.
The USA 50 Team mission is to achieve world-class performance through purposeful, sportsmanlike action. Because of this, the campaign is about more than winning races—it’s about inspiring change, sharing the journey, and expanding access to high-performance sport through storytelling and community engagement.
Sarah’s first child was born in spring 2021, and she continued to travel, race, and compete as both an elite athlete and a mother. In 2025, she welcomed her second child, Rocky—perfect timing as the team builds toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
USA 50 Racing also aims to help develop younger American athletes through online and in person coaching. You can learn more about our performance coaching services here.

It’s our sail number, and it’s on our sail at every event we compete at! When we started racing together, instead of naming our team after ourselves, we wanted a team name that would represent our friendship, collaboration, and patriotism. We also wanted it to be a name we could use long after we achieve our Olympic dreams, and a name that would be flexible if we incorporated new teammates or projects into our mission! We started calling ourself USA 50, and it stuck. We like to think that every time we pull our sail up, we’re representing all 50 states of the beautiful USA.
The campaign toward Los Angeles 2028 is officially on—and I couldn’t be more fired up.
After a yearlong search for a teammate, I’m incredibly excited to welcome Bay Area native Hoel Menard…
Rocky Moon Moore made his surprise debut on June 23rd in Erie, PA—6 pounds even, 6 weeks early, and very far from our home in Miami…
